Al Ahly Goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy To Leave The Club After 10 Years

Al Ahly goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy will leave at the end of the season after more than ten years with the club.

The Egyptian international, 36, joined from El Gouna and has made 156 appearances, the second-most by any goalkeeper in the Red Devils’ history.

“In 23 years, I always used to take responsibility on the field, there is no joy in football as the fun of playing matches and participating in them representing Al Ahly’s badge,” Ekramy said in a lengthy statement as translated from Arabic.

“My goal lately was to work hard to return again to the pitch, waiting for a real opportunity, but day after day it becomes a difficult reality.

“Every detail regarding my next step will be announced once I am settled on it and in a timely manner.

“My focus now is with my team to achieve a successful season in my final year that satisfies the aspirations of our fans,” he added.

Ekramy, who has kept a second-best club record 75 clean sheets, is serving as the teams’ second-choice goalkeeper behind Mohamed El Shenawy.

He won with the Red Devils seven Egyptian league titles, two African Champions League crowns and one Confederation Cup among other minor accolades.
