Dedebit Confirm They Will Compete in Ethiopia Premier League Again

Ethiopia Premier League side Dedebit FC have announced that they will compete in the top-flight again as their sponsors are making every effort to clear outstanding arrears.

The Blues, who had been facing a tough time, had on Friday declared bankruptcy and withdrew from the Ethiopia Premier League.

Club president Colonel Awel Abdurehim confirmed in a statement that their sponsors are in the process of paying off around US$703,000 owed to players and various companies.

“Our financial woes are being sorted out with the assistance of our sponsors,” reads part of the statement.

“We would like to announce that our team will get back to league action next week,” the two-time Ethiopian Cup winners added.

Dedebit first made an announcement about their financial difficulties after the 2017/2018 season saying that they would only sign players with low wage demands and would let go of players earning high wages.

The Makelle-based outfit are currently at the bottom of 16-team Ethiopian Premier League table with 10 points from 23 games and they were scheduled to play Welatya Ditcha on Saturday in Woallaita Sodo Stadium.
