2022 AWCON Qualifiers: Senegal Beat Mali To Advance

Nguenar Ndiaye’s lone goal in the 73rd minute was the ultimate decider as the Lioness secured an advantage ahead of the return-leg, a decider.

Wednesday’s goal was Ndiaye’s third goal in the qualification tournament after scoring in both legs of the first round against Liberia.

Senegal progressed to the Second Round after ending out Liberia 8-1 on aggregate in the first round, while Mali, who have appeared as six nations cup, advanced to the Second Round after a 4-2 aggregate win against Guinea.

Both teams will face off in the return-leg on February 21 in Bamako, Mali.

Elsewhere, Burundi are easily sailing their way through to their first-ever AWCON after collecting another comfortable victory.

The Swallows trashed Djibouti 6-1 in the first-leg in Burundi and remain the favorites to win the return-leg on February 21.

In the previous round, Burundi recorded a huge 6-0 aggregate win against Eritrea.

Similar to Burundi, the Ladies Stallon of Burkina Faso brushed aside Guinea Bissau 6-0 in Bissau to keep their hope of a maiden qualification alive.

In other fixtures of the day, Zambia were held to a goalless draw by Nambia at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
