Zimbabwe Fans Bitter As Warriors Crash Out Of COSAFA Cup

Zimbabwe fans reacted with anger and swallow on Sunday after the national team tumbled out of the COSAFA Cup following their 2-0 loss to Namibia.

Goals by Elmo Kambindu and an own goal by Jimmy Dzingai gave Namibia their second win of the tournament to put them at the top of Group B and in a strong position to make the semifinals.

The loss heaped more pressure on the Warriors who are yet to register a win in their competition as they have accumulated two draws and one loss.

Tired of the heartbreaks, impatient fans have now turned their guns on the Croatian manager Zdravko Logarusic as they bay for his blood.

“We want him out immediately. As he leaves, he should take all the other members of the technical bench,” said an enraged fan.

Logarusic has won only one game in the 11 matches he has presided over in the Warriors dugout, 12 if the international friendly against Malawi is included.

“There is no plan, there are no players,no one knows how to defend or attack,” the fan added.

Zimbabwe face Senegal in their last group game on Tuesday. Senegal have three points from two games while the Warriors have two from three starts.

Logarusic was handed the job in January 2020 replacing Sunday Chidzambwa who left the hot seat after the nation’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Joey Antipas had been placed in-charge on interim basis and had to step down from the role and assist new boss Logarusic.

The 54-year-old Croat left Sudan on November 30 following their decision to not renew his contract after the expiration of his deal.
