Green Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw by Zesco United in their ninth Zambia Super League game of the season on Friday evening at the Choma Independence Stadium.
It was an evenly contested affair in the opening exchanges, with both sides seeing a bit of the ball, although chances were hard to come by.
That proved to be the theme for the opening 30 minutes, with the only bit of entertainment coming from Green Eagles’ Anos Tembo with his skillful touches.
The first effort of the half arrived in the 38th minute courtesy of Shardreck Mulungwe ‘s long range strike, which Ian Otieno was equal to.
Eagles nearly broke the deadlock a minute later when Kunda played a fine pass for Mwiikisa, but the striker dragged his effort just wide of the mark.
Zesco were presented with a chance late in the half but Mwamba did well to clear away Enock Sakala’s goal-bound effort, with Chibwe well beaten.
Chibwe was called into action after the hour-mark, as he pulled off two saves to deny Sakala in quick succession.
Zesco were presented with another chance in the 74th minute, but Witson Kalengo managed head over from close range.
Otieno came to Zesco’ rescue in the 79th minute, as he pulled off a fine reaction stop to deny Sunza from six-yards out.
Zesco failed to bypass the stubborn Green Eagles defence in the remaining stages, with David Molinga being denied by Chibwe in stoppage time and were forced to settle for a point.
