Zambia Super League: NAPSA Stars Held

NAPSA Stars continue to headline the Zambian Super League despite letting two points slip after they were forced to settle for a point by a stubborn Nakambala Leopards.

The outcome means the KK11 Pensioners have been drawn on five occasions but add an impressive ten wins to their name in eighteen matches in this campaign.

The Woodlands Stadium outfit was slightly way off the top three weeks ago but is a much more revived side courtesy of gaffer Evans Sakala’s management.

Sunday saw ten games played across the Southern Africa landlocked country, featuring all twenty teams in the top tier.

A series of goalless draws, five to be precise, characterized the games as only five teams picked up wins namely; Forest Rangers, ZESCO United, Lumwana Radiants, Power Dynamos and Nkana.

Sixth-placed ZESCO edged out Green Eagles at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a thrilling a 3-2 win in Ndola.

Power Dynamos leapfrogged to the top after pulling off a slender 1-0 win against Real Nakonde. The victory puts the Dynamos in third position, a point behind rivals Lusaka Dynamos, who settled for a 0-0 stalemate with Kabwe Warriors.

Lumwana Radiants triumphed over Nkwazi by a narrow margin as Nkana fended off Mufulira Wanderers 2-1, in other Sunday matches.

At the bottom half of the table is Konkola Blades, Nakamba Leopards, Kabwe Warriors, Mufulira Wanderers, City of Lusaka and Real Nakonde.

Matches resume today (25th Tuesday) with NAPSA hosting second-placed Lusaka Dynamos in a must-watch title contenders’ derby.
