Wydad Casablanca Match Against Lobi Stars Rescheduled

The CAF Champions League match between Lobi Stars and Wydad Casablanca has been pushed rescheduled from Friday to Saturday.

The CAF Champions League match between Lobi Stars and Wydad Casablanca has been rescheduled from Friday to Saturday.

The Group A clash has been moved to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu after the Confederation of African Football disapproved the use of Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

Lobi Stars vice chairman Mike Idoko confirmed this on Thursday in an interview with a section of the Nigerian press.

“Yes, we are going to face Wydad Casablanca in Enugu just like in our previous matches,” Idoko told the media.

“CAF wrote to us indicating that we still have one or two things to do on the Aper Aku Stadium for it to be certified ready. We have started work already and we are hoping that it will be passed fit for the game with ASEC Mimosas in March.”

“We are going into the match against Wydad with the belief that we can beat the Moroccans because we know that it is the only option that we have.”

On Sunday, Wydad was forced to send an advance party to Lagos to follow up on the date of the match.

This came a day after the host devised what the Moroccan giants termed as ‘mind games’ when they revealed contradicting information regarding kick-off date.

Confederation of Africa Football had set Friday, February 1 as match day, but Lobi Stars announced that the game will take place on Sunday before reverting to Saturday.

Stars sit third on the group standings with three points gained from their 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns while Wydad are at the top of the group, with a goal difference separating the two sides.
