Wolkite Ketema Held By Adama City

A goal in the dying seconds of the match from Belay Abayneh salvaged a point for Adama City as they played to a 1-1 draw against Wolkite Ketema in an BetKing Ethiopian Premier League match at the Dire Dawa International Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Wolkite started the better of the two sides and had the first decent effort on goal in the seventh minute, but Henok Ayele fired his shot from the edge of the box inches over the crossbar.

After 10 minutes Adama had a chance, when Habtamu Wolde burst into the Wolkite box, but his shot flew across the face of goal.

Abdisa Jemal then came close to scoring for the home side with a powerful effort, but he was denied by a superb Jemal Tassew save.

10 minutes before the break Elias Mamo got his first chance for Adama, winning the ball in the Wolkite box, only to see his shot rebound off the near post.

It was the Workers who broke the deadlock when defender Remedan Yesouf slid a powerful shot past Sekouba Camara.

Action came thick and fast after the break, and Adama came close when Bekalu Genene attempted to get on the end of Elisee Jonatan’s chip over the defence, but couldn’t quite reach the ball.

Genene tried his luck again four minutes later, but his effort went well wide of Tassew’s goal.

Tassew proved to be the busier of the two keepers, this time denying Milion Solomon from giving Adama an equalizer in the 65th minute.

It was then Wolkite ‘s turn to have a couple efforts at goal, with both Ame Mohammed and Alsari Al-Mehadi going close in quick succession.

Zeray Mulu rang the changes in the hope of getting an equalizer, bringing on Mamadou Coulibaly and Seife Zakir.

In the 80th minute Zakir was also just centimetres away from leveling matters for Adama when his long range shot skimmed the wrong side of the post.

Three minutes from the end Ame Mohamed thought he had finally found Wolkite’s second goal on the night, but he saw his effort from just inside the box superbly saved by Camara.

Still, Adama pushed forward and they were rewarded for their efforts in the dying seconds of the game when Abayneh poked the ball home just a minute after coming in for Bekalu Genene, 1-1.
