“Why Not” the World Cup? Uganda Cranes Coach Has Bigger Dreams

After making history by qualifying for Africa Cup of Nations, the Uganda Cranes Coach Micho Sredojevic has his hopes high. Much as Uganda’s soccer fans are putting their attention cranes’ journey to Gabon, Micho’s focused on something much bigger. The FIFA World Cup.

“Why not?’’ Micho said on Uganda’s chance to qualify for the next World Cup. “If Togo qualified, why not us.”

Micho’s point is based on the logic that Togo were first-time qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup Germany. Further, Africa had four first timers that year. They are, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Angola joining Tunisia at the expense of Cameroon and Nigeria.

FUFA President Moses Magogo, shared this view.

“When I see this current group of players, I see belief that yes we can qualify for world cup,” Magogo told the media. “We have a watsapp group where the players have told me that it’s possible. This team is like a family.”

To qualify for AFCON, Uganda had to beat Togo 4-0 on aggregates.
