Wanyama Linked With a Move to Fenerbahce

Reports in Turkey have linked Fenerbahce with a move for Harambee Stars and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Reports in Turkey have linked Fenerbahce with a move for Harambee Stars and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Fenerbahce are looking to sign a defensive midfielder as a replacement of Eljif Elmas who on Tuesday left to join Serie A side Napoli.

According to Turkish Portal fanatic.com, the Yellow-Navy Blues have shifted their attention to Spurs midfielder Wanyama, who made only 22 appearances for the Premier League giants last season.

However, Wanyama doesn’t seem to be interested with a move away from Premier League despite the arrival of Tottenham’s new signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

“I will be back in training with Spurs next week. I do not want to dwell much on speculations because it’s normal for a player to be linked with other clubs when the transfer window is open but I’m not going anywhere,” he said in an interview with ESPN.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “I have not spoken to any other team because my aim is to remain at Spurs and to help my team next season. I have a running contract with Tottenham which I intend to honour.”   [/perfectpullquote]

“But in football, anything can happen. Things can change really quick.”

Wanyama could have left Spurs for clubs abroad last year, but he did not as he had to wait to ensure that he qualified for his British passport after living in the UK for over six years.

The 28-year-old former Celtic star has had injuries in recent times, and given his age, one can understand why Tottenham may be open to listening to offers for him.
