AS Vita Unveil New Defender From Burkina Faso

AS Vita coach Florent Ibenge has continued his love affair with West African players by signing Burkinabe defender Zana Oumar Coulibaly from Tanzanian club Simba.

AS Vita coach Florent Ibenge has continued his love affair with West African players by signing Burkinabe defender Zana Oumar Coulibaly from Tanzanian club Simba.

The 26-year-old‚ who scored five goals and contributed three assists for Simba in the Tanzanian Premier League last season‚ will link up with fellow West Africans Nelson Lukong, Oumar Sidibe and Akwo Ayuk at the Kinshasa based outfit.

The Congolese club announced the acquisition of the six-foot-three defender for an undisclosed fee via Facebook on Tuesday.

The club also didn’t reveal the length of Coulibaly’s contract but said it was thrilled that the player decided to join them.

On his side, Coulibaly said that he looks forward to contributing to Vita’s quest for African Cup glory and the Vodacom Ligue 1.

The arrival of Coulibaly will spark speculation about the future of right-back Bafola Dido, who has struggled to adjust at the Black Dolphins since his highly publicised move from local rivals TP Mazembe in 2018.

Coach Ibenge also has tough decisions to make during the transfer window as players such as Savio Kabugo, Akwo Ayuk, Cesar Manzoki and Boayi Boyombe are wanted by other clubs.

Coulibaly, a former ASEC Mimosas star, was a key player for Simba playing a key role in their 2018/2019 CAF Champions League campaign.
