Wanga Dropped as Kenya Coach Trims AFCON Squad

2018/19 Kenyan Premier League top scorer Allan Wanga has been dropped from Harambee Stars squad that will pitch camp in France in readiness for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

2018/19 Kenyan Premier League top scorer Allan Wanga has been dropped from Harambee Stars squad that will pitch camp in France in readiness for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Wanga, who scored 18 league goals in the just-concluded season, was missing from the list that was released by coach Sebastien Migne on Thursday afternoon.

Other dropped players are AFC Leopards midfielder, Whyvonne Isuza, and Kariobangi Sharks young keeper Brian Bwire.

Surprise inclusions include Sofapaka forward John Avire, Sweden based winger Ovella Ochieng who has been out of form and Masoud Juma who’s currently without a club.

Four more players will be dropped after the three-week camp in France before the team leaves for Egypt.

Goalkeepers: Patrick Matasi (St. Georges, Ethiopia), Faruk Shikhalo (Bandari FC, Kenya), John Oyemba (Kariobangi Sharks, Kenya).

Defenders: Philemon Otieno (Gor Mahia-Kenya), Musa Mohammed (Nkana FC-Zambia), Joash Onyango (Gor Mahia-Kenya), Abud Omar (Sepsi Sfântu-Romania), David Owino (Zesco United-Zambia), Bernard Ochieng (Vihiga United-Kenya), Brian Mandela (Maritzburg United-South Africa), Erick Ouma (Vasalund IF-Sweden) and Joseph Okumu.
