Vipers Boss Slams Poor Show After Al-Hilal Defeat

Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba was disappointed with his team’s performance in the 1-0 loss to Al-Hilal Omdurman on Saturday 29 November in Kampala.

Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba was disappointed with his team’s performance in the 1-0 loss to Al-Hilal Omdurman on Saturday 29 November in Kampala.

The Ugandan champions began their African Champions League expedition with a shocking home defeat at the hands of the Sudanese giants.

Bakhiet Hamid scored the winner on 24 minutes with a header to give Al Hilal a clear advantage before they host Vipers in the second leg on 6 December.

Speaking after the match, the former Simba SC goalkeepers coach slammed his players for failing to follow his instructions.

“Poor first half, very good second half but now we have to go back to the drawing board and correct those small mistakes,” Kajoba told reporters after the match.

“In the first half, we didn’t play good football. I felt some of the players were below par in the first half and I thought they were not at the level required to play at Vipers.”

Kajoba made three changes in the squad by handing debuts to defender Disan Galiwango, midfielder Jamil Kalisa and striker Cesar Manzoki.

The Venoms had the better of the second-half but Al Hilal custodian stood tall between the sticks denying Milton Karisa a clear chance in the last four minutes of the match.

The return leg is slated for December 6 in Khartoum and the winner on aggregate will face either Ghana’s Asante Kotoko or FC Noudhibou from Mauritania.
