Egypt legendary goalkeeper Essam El Hadary is set to join Jorvan Vieira as the goalkeeper coach for Etoile du Sahel.

Egypt legendary goalkeeper Essam El Hadary is set to join Jorvan Vieira as the goalkeeper coach for Etoile du Sahel.

Ducor Sports has been reliably informed that El Hadary, who in July brought an end to his glittering career at the age of 47, is set to move to the Tunisia league outfit.

“El Hadary will be joining Etoile du Sahel’s technical team, he had discussions with the club from last week,” a source close to the former Egypt national team captain reveals.

“It is unclear how long the deal will be but he will be announced soon.”

El-Hadary hung his boots four months ago after having a short stint at former Egyptian Premier League side Nogoom FC.

He had a remarkable career on an international level after winning four Africa Cup of Nations titles for Egypt, including three consecutive ones between 2006 and 2010.

He is also the oldest person to ever make a World Cup appearance at 45 years of age during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

At the club level, his most successful stint was undeniably his time with Cairo giants Al Ahly where he remained for 12 years, winning a total of 21 domestic and continental trophies.

He retired from international football in August 2018 saying he “saw it as the best moment to hang up my gloves.”
