Ugandan Midfielder Joins Top-Flight Side In DR Congo

Ugandan international midfielder All Kateregga has sealed a move to Democratic Republic of Congo giants Saint Eloi Lupopo.

On Thursday evening, the Railmen confirmed that they had reached an agreement with un-named agent over the signing of Kateregga on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old has been clubless since leaving Iraq top-flight side Erbil Sports Club in October 2020, where he played for one season.

Kateregga was earlier linked to a move to Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC but the deal failed to materialize.

“FC Lupopo is proud to confirm today the transfer of the Ugandan international attacking midfielder, Allan Kateregga who has signed up with the Cheminots for two seasons, until June 30, 2023,” the club said in a statement.

Kateregga started his career in his native Uganda with Sports Club Victoria University befote being snapped up by 12-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker FC.

He briefly turned for the now defucant Kenya Revenue Authority FC before moving back to Uganda where he signed for Jinja-based side Bidco Uganda Limited Football Club (Bul) FC.

He made a return to Kenya to join 13-time KPL champions AFC Leopards where he lasted from 2015-2017.

Kateregga made another return to Ugandan Premier League with 13-time league champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC before he was snapped by South Africa Premier Soccer League outfit Cape Town City.

He was loaned to Martizburg United where he spent a short stint before mutually terminating the contract with the Citizens.

The midfielder was part of Uganda national team which featured in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations that was held in Egypt.
