Uganda Premier League: Vipers Appoint Interim Coach After Martinez Exit

Uganda Premier League side Vipers have confirmed the appointment of Michael Nam Ouma as the club’s interim coach.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers have confirmed the appointment of Michael Nam Ouma as the club’s interim coach following the sacking of Mexican coach Javier Martinez Espinoza.
Martinez’s appointment as the head coach of the Kitende-based side was terminated on Saturday following a string of poor results.
Nam, who is former Kenya national Under-17 coach, has been given the nod to lead a five-man interim technical team until further notice.
A statement confirming Nam as interim head coach read:
“Vipers Sports Club has this evening named a 5-man interim technical team that will be handling the club going until the end of this season.”
“The team includes a new face of Kenyan born Micheal Ouma as the head coach assisted by Oloya Moses as goal keeping coach, Edward Ssali as trainer with Ram Nyakana as strength and endurance coach.”
The club statement also stated that the executive committee will name the fifth member of the coaching team later once everything is cleared.
Sources says the Vipers top hierarchy is still on the lookout to appoint a foreign coach and could make Michael Nam the substantive assistant once the new head coach arrives.
Vipers who lie second on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table will next face fifth-placed URA in a mid-next week fixture in a bid to kick off the New Year on a high.
