Egyptian Premier League side Misr El-Makkasa has confirmed that two of their players have tested positive for the coronavirus.

El-Makkasa are expected to face Aswan in one of Sunday’s matches that will be staged at the Arab Contractors Stadium.

The Faiyum-based outfit also announced one of their staff members also tested positive ahead of their Sunday afternoon’s league clash against Aswan.

Defender Mahmoud Alaa scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half as the hosts claimed all three points in a match they dominated.

The match between El-Makassa and Aswan will be the second league game that will mark the resumption of one of the most followed football leagues in Africa.

El-Makkasa are currently 17th on the Egyptian Premier League log with 14 points from 17 games.

Defending champions Al Ahly are leading the table with 49 points, 16 points over second-placed Arab Contractors, who played one game more.
