Kalil Chemmam has called time on his international career with Tunisia hoping to redirect his energies in club football.

Kalil Chemmam has called time on his international football career with Tunisia, hoping to redirect his energies to club football.

The center-back brings the curtain down to a journey that began eleven years ago prompted by the failure to get a mention in the new manager Alain Guiresse’s Cartage Eagles’ set up.

At 32, he was part of the North African outfit’s provisional World Cup squad, getting named as an unused substitute in his final call-up in the slender 1-0 triumph over Costa Rica which was a friendly encounter under former coach Nabil Maaloul.

Capped twenty-six (26) times, the defender hangs up his boots internationally to focus on starring for continental giants Esperance de Tunis with whom he won the Africa Champions League title for the second time last November.

As the captain of the capital side, Kalil will be ardent on helping shepherd the Red and Gold to the Tunisian domestic title, a gong he has scooped eight times already.
