Carthage Eagles have lined up two friendly matches against Sudan and Nigeria in next month’s international break ahead of upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.

Carthage Eagles have lined up two friendly matches against Sudan and Nigeria in next month’s international break ahead of the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.

Eagles take on the East Africans on October 9 at the Olympic Stadium Rades, while the contest against the Super Eagles will be on October 13 in Austria.

The team will be using the matches to prepare for their Group J 2021 AFCON qualifiers back-to-back fixtures against Tanzania.

Tunisia coach Mondher Kebaier recently selected his squad and took them through two training sessions between June 8 and June 21.

Majority of the players who took part in the sessions are from French top division with few coming from the North African country’s domestic leagues.

Tunisia sit atop of their 2021 AFCON qualifying group with two wins after two matches. The friendlies are aimed at preparing the players for the task ahead.

The Carthage Eagles are scheduled to begin their qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on June next year. They are paired against Equatorial Guinea, Zambia and Mauritania in Group B.

The qualifiers were due to begin in October, but the impact of coronavirus pandemic saw the reshuffle in the African international football calendar.

The continent continues to be hit hard by the pandemic, with a handful of domestic competitions such as South Africa, Egypt,  Morocco and Tunisia currently underway.
