TP Mazembe in Advanced Talks with Senegalese Goalkeeper Alioune Faty

Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe are in talks with Casa Sport over a move of Senegalese goalkeeper Alioune Badara Faty.

Mazembe head coach Lamine Diaye is keen to bolster his goalkeeping options, and reports in Dakar reveal he has pinpointed the 24-year-old as a potential recruit.

Faty made over 30 league appearances for the Ziguinchor-based side since joining the club at the start of the 2019/2020 football season.

A Senegalese publication Wiw Sports indicates that the Ravens are currently in advanced discussions with the  goalkeeper and the deal could be sealed in the following days.

“TP Mazembe and Casa Sports are set to finalize talks and the goalkeeper could join Ravens  this coming season,” claims the source as quoted by the publication.

If the move materializes, Faty will be expected to use his experience in guiding the other younger players in the current squad, especially those playing in defense positions.

Horoya AC of Guinea and alongside unnamed lower divisions French Clubs have been in the past linked with the Senegalese international services.

Faty was part of Senegal national team squad that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He was also part of the Senegal squad that won the 2022 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

Meanwhile, the DR Congo Football Federation (FECOFA)  has announced the cancellations of the 2023/2023 Linafoot  season.

The decision was made after the club officials and Linafoot officials failed to agree on resumption of the league which postponed fixtures in late December 2022.

FECOFA will be expected to make the country’s four representatives in CAF club competition next season will be submitted at a later date.
