Togo Advertise National Football Coach Position

The Togo Football Federation (FTF) has issued a call for applications from coaches around the country and beyond to take up the vacant Sparrow Hawks coaching job.

The position has been vacant after embattled coach Claude Le Roy resigned from his position on April 12 following five years with Togo national team.

Le Roy left after he failed to lead the Sparrow Hawks to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations He was also accused of falling out with several federation officials and refusing to take up residence in the West African nation.

Consequently, the requirements for the new coach reflect some of the perceived failings of the French coach who won and lost the hearts of football loving Togolese.

“The federation seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of National team Head Coach. Job skills and qualification: Holds a national or foreign trainer diploma obtained as a result of coaching (UEFA A License CAF A License, UEFA Pro License or equivalent), have a good knowledge of the French Language, be willing to reside permanently in Togo for the duration of contract. Digital tool skills, match analysis skills and presentation skills,” read part of the advert.

They are also seeking a candidate “with good character and in good health” who also has a ‘good knowledge of African football.”

Those who believe they fit the bill are invited to submit their applications at the FTF secretariat in Lome or via email before the 28 April deadline.

A shortlist of three candidates will be finalised by an appointed commission, before a successful coach and assistants will be announced.

Whoever comes in will have only one month to work with the team before the start 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.
