Black Stars vice-captain Thomas Partey has joined the rest of national team players preparing for this weekend’s friendlies against Mali and Qatar.

The English Premier League side Arsenal midfielder assumed the deputy captain role in September replacing Kwadwo Asamoah, who was vice-captain to Andre Ayew at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Partey joined other internationals including Kassim Nuhu, Alexander Djiku, Bernard Mensah, Joseph Aidoo and Tarique Fosu who reported to camp on Wednesday at the Emir Sports complex in Antalya, Turkey.

Their arrivals increase the number of players to nineteen as coach Coach C.K Akonnor continued preparing his charges for the friendlies where Black Stars will take on Mali on Friday, October 09, before taking on Qatar three days later.

“The players are responding well to training. We are happy Partey arrived here at the Xanthe Resort. His experience will be a big boost to us against Mali and Qatar,” Akannor told reporters.

Partey signed for Arsenal on Monday from Atletico Madrid after having been a long target for the EPL side after he was recommended by former Head of International Scouting, Francis Cagigao.

Other Black Stars players in the Turkey camp include Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Razak Abalora, Benson Annag, Kamaldeen Suleyman, Captain Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Nicholas Opoku, Emmanuel Lomotey, Eugene Ansah, Baba Iddrisu, Gideon Mensah, Thomas Teye- Partey, Samuel Owusu, Yakubu Mohammed, Bernard Mensah, Kassim Nuhu, Tarique Fosu, Alexander Djiku and Joseph Aidoo.

The team is expected to hold its second training camp on Wednesday afternoon as preparations continue for Friday’s game against the Eagles of Mali.
