Congo-Brazzaville Handball Federation (Fecohand) has announced the appointment of French manager Thierry Vincent as the women national team new head coach.

Congo-Brazzaville Handball Federation (Fecohand) has announced the appointment of French manager Thierry Vincent as the women national team new head coach.

The president of the Fecohand, Jean Claude Ibovi and the board of directors decided to appoint the former Ivory Coast men’s national team coach after meeting the Frenchman, who agreed on a deal to guide the Congolese national team ahead of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

“A quality technical staff has therefore been necessary since we are aiming for the podium,” said the Fecohand president, as translated from French.

“Technicians have no pretense. They have the obligation of results. We will continue to honor our commitments.”

The Red Ladies Devils have qualified for the upcoming Africa Women Cup of Nations, which will be held in Brazzaville from December 2-12 this year and the new coach has promised good results.

“I have not come to Congo on vacation but to work to get the best results possible. It may be time for the Congo to resume its place in Africa,” he revealed.

Vincent will be assisted by Julien Ormea (physical trainer) and Frédéric Balsa as goalkeepers coach.

The two coaches have great experience and knowledge of the game and command respect among the players, according to observers.
