Sudan Premier League giants Al Hilal Omdurman have officially appointed Ricardo Formosinho as new head coach.

Al AHilal had been searching for a replacement of Zaron Manojlovic who left his position seven days ago after a goalless draw to DR Congo’s AS Vita in the group phase of the African Champions League.

The Omdurman-based club announced that the Portuguese has started working with the team, currently in Algeria to face CR Belouizdad in their group B clash of Champions League.

Formosinho has been out of work since leaving English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs in August 2020.

The 64-year-old also served as Jose Mourinho’s assistant during his time at Manchester United from 2016 to 2018.

“I am extremely happy and honoured to become the new coach of Al Hilal,” Formosinho said, via club website.

Al Hilal have won a record 27 Sudanese top flight league titles and seven domestic cup trophies.

They will be looking to claim another league title under the tutelage of Rocardo Formosinho after a three-year wait.
