Serbian Srdjan Zivojnov has been hired as St.George SC head coach on a two-year contract.

Serbian Srdjan Zivojnov has been hired as St.George SC head coach on a two-year contract.

Zivojnov arrived in the country on Wednesday and watched players participate in a training session before he was confirmed as the new head coach.

The 47-year-old will now replace British gaffer Stewart Hall who was fired at the end of 2018/2019 season after failing to reclaim the Ethiopia Premier League title.

He will be deputised by current interim coach Zerihun Shengeta while the goalkeeper’s coach, Burundian Emy Nidizye, continues with his position.

In an interview with Ducor Sports after his unveiling, Zivojnov revealed his satisfaction with the squad and is relishing the opportunity of guiding them to 2019/2020 title.

“I have seen a bit of what the players are like from the training session and I must say I am happy with their technical ability in handling the ball, the passing and vision. Of course, there are a few things here that we need to change which is normal in football and I promise that we will work on it together,” he added.

Zivojvon has previously coached clubs in Africa working with SC Villa Uganda, Yanga SC of Tanzania and Zambia where he was in charge of Super Division side Buildcon FC.

St George has already started rebuilding for the 2019/2020 season with the release of several senior players and have also acquired the services of Desta Demu, Yabsera Tayafe and Abel Endale among others.
