South African winger George Lebese has signed for United Soccer League Championship outfit Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, the club announced on Friday.

South African winger George Lebese has signed for United Soccer League Championship outfit Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, the club announced on Friday.

The 30-year-old midfielder has joined the club for an unspecified period and will start training with the team when he gets approval from the league authorities.

“The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has signed George Lebese, pending USL Championship and USSF approval,” the USA club confirmed the signing on their official website.

Lebese will now work under South African coach Alan Koch at the Switchbacks who revealed his excitement at sealing a deal for the winger.

“George is a player that we are incredibly excited about. He is in need of a fresh opportunity after many years of success in the South African Premier League. We look forward to supporting him and helping get his confidence back,” Koch said.

The move is the tricky wides man first club abroad for the former Bafana international who netted 24 goals in 157 Absa Premiership appearances.
