South Africa have earned a place in the World Cup berth having seen off Mali in the semis of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

A 2-0 lead against Mali did the magic with forwards Thembi Kgatlana and Lebohang Ramalepe the architects.

Thembi broke the deadlock in the 31st minute in what was her fifth goal of the tournament before Ramalepe rounded off matters with eight minutes left on the clock

Saturday’s victory set up a thrilling meeting for South Africa with Nigeria in the Wafcon final who shoved aside Cameroon on post-game penalties following a goalless affair in regular time.

Nigeria will be making its eighth appearance in the World Cup next year in France.
