Simba Set To Make Shock Coaching Decision

It will come as a surprise to many in the football fraternity, but coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa is facing the axe at Simba Sports Club.

Ducor Sports understands that the Msimbazi Reds will hold crunch talks with Da Rosa in the coming days to discuss his future at the club with management apparently contemplating asking him to vacate his position.

Approached for comment on the latest developments, Simba chief executive officer Barbara Gonzalez insisted suggestions that Da Rosa  was on the ropes were “only rumours”.

Simba were eliminated from the CAF Champions League in which they had reached quarterfinals last season.

The Tanzanian giants suffered a  3-1 defeat against Jwaneng Galaxy in a return leg battle at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.

It is believed that is that part of the reasons why management is concerned, though the Msimbazi Reds have a chance to redeem themselves in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Da Rosa, who guided Al-Merraikh in the African Champions League groups stages, previously had a spell with Ismaily SC of Egypt where he was sacked in August owing to a spate of poor results.

He had a successful stint with Guinean giants Horoya AC where he was sacked in November 2019 despite guiding the team to the league title last season.

He also had a stint with Cameroonian side Coton Sport from 2013 to 2015, winning the league title twice, the Cup once, besides reaching the Confederation Cup semi-final.
