Simba Left Frustrated By Ruvu

Simba SC and Ruvu Shooting settled for the share of the spoils as they played to a 1-1 draw in a Tanzania Premier League match at National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Shiza Kichuya broke the deadlock for Msimbazi Reds but Fully Maganga drew the Blues level as the two teams went into the half-time break locked at 1-1.

Early momentum went to Simba after Meddie Kagere and John Bocco caused a few issues with threatening decoy runs in and around the six-yard area.

Ruvu dominated the game thereafter but struggled to open up the hosts who caused a few issues on the counter-attack towards the ten-minute mark.

Simba went ahead in 12^th minute when Rajab Kazir’s attempted clearance was met by Kichuya who easily placed the ball in the back of the net, 1-0.

Wits levelled matters in the 37th minute when William Patrick crossed for Fully Zullu Maganga to send a header arcing over Aisha Manula into the back of the net.

Manula made up for his earlier error in the 40th minute, as the young goalkeeper rushed off his line to deny Rajab Zahir a clean strike at goal.

Mohamed Makaka was called into action two minutes later, as the Ruvu shot-stopper produced a finger-tip save to keep out Pascal Wawa’s curling free-kick from the edge of the box.

Ruvu got off to an encouraging start in the second half and also managed to force Manula into a fine reaction save in the 49th minute.

After a quiet spell in the second half, Erasto Nyoni could have secured victory for Simba in the latter stages of the second half but the midfielder fired his effort well wide of the mark.

Ruvu pushed for a late winner, but the Simba defence managed to hold out, as both sides walked away with a point at the National Stadium.

Sven Vandenbroeck’s charges remain at the top of the Vodacom Premier League, while Ruvu are unchanged at the eleventh position.
