Sierra Leone Women’s Football Coach Granted Bond

Suspended Sierra Leone’s women’s football team Abdulai Bah was on Wednesday granted temporary freedom after depositing cash bail pending trial in court.

Bah had a run-in with Sierra Leonean law enforcement after he was arrested on allegations of sexual harassments last Friday.

The experienced gaffer had been detained at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Freetown after three players complained to police that Bah had been sexually harassing them.

Bah, who had been under investigation for two weeks, had spent four days in police custody which is against the standard detention period of 72 hours in a cell without being charged.

Sierra Leone football authorities had suspended Bah after the victims presented copies of text messages relating to alleged sexual harassment.

Bah agreed to step aside but denied any wrong doing before the three ladies laid complain at the local police station leading to the arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned in court after police authorities prepare a charge sheet and  fix a date for the hearing.

Bah, who took charge of the Sierra Queens in August 2020, has since be replaced by coach assistant Hassan Malik Mansaray.
