Senegal Star Ismail Sarr Emerges As Watford Target

English Premier League side Watford is reportedly considering signing Ismail Sarr from his French Ligue 1 giants Rennes.

English Premier League side Watford is reportedly considering signing Ismail Sarr from French Ligue 1 giants Rennes.

According to insider reports from England, Watford is seeking the move to bring in one of Senegal’s best exports to the English Premier League this transfer window.

The 21-year-old winger has been one of the most consistent performers for Rennes since joining in 2017.

Sarr has had an outstanding season in France, bagging in eight goals and five assists in the just-ended campaign.

Preliminary talks have taken place over a move to Vicarage Road, for the player who is also on the radar of Belgian sides Royal Antwerp, Club Brugge and champions KRC Genk.

“Sarr is certainly a player who interests us, but he is just one of many wingers we are looking at,” Standard quotes a source.

A bid in the region of £25m to £30m is set to be made by Watford to land Sarr, while there also interests from Chelsea and Southampton.

Any deal for the player would likely see him become the most expensive in the club’s history.

Sarr joined Rennes from Metz on a four-year-contract and transfer fee paid to the club was reported as €17 or 20 million.

The Generation Foot Academy graduate was part of the Senegal squad that reached the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament before they were beaten 1-0 by Algeria.
