Sadio Mane Poised to Scoop Senegal’s Best Player Award

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane looks the favourite from the list of five players competing for Senegal’s best player award.

The Anfield star deservingly earned himself a nomination for the Ballon d’Or following a stellar trophy-laden season with the English club in which he clutched the UEFA Champions League title and Super Cup.

On the radar of moneybags Real Madrid, the 27-year-old was a big part of the Taranga Lions’ second-place finish in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, scoring 22 goals in the EPL.

M’Baye Niang, who won the Coupe de France with Rennes, Krepin Diatta nominated the Belgian league’s best sportsman, Gana Gueye and Kalidou Koulibally are the contestants vying for the staked prize with Mane.

However, the latter is dubbed the favourite.

The winner will need to get at least ten points to be voted for by delegates in an awards night being staged by Senegal’s Sports Journalists’ body.
