Reported Al Ahly Target Joins UAE Side Al Ain

Morocco international Soufiane Rahimi has signed a long-term deal with United Arab Emirates top-flight side Al Ain, Ducor Sports can reveal.

The 25-year-old was reported a target of Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly while with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, where his displays over the past two seasons attracted the attention of widespread interest in Africa.

The technically gifted player played a crucial role in their run towards CAF Confederation Cup final and scored in team’s 2-1 victory over JS Kabylie in July.

But the winger opted to move to the Middle East where he will play against his former team-mate at Raja,   Ben Malango, who recently switched to Emirate side Al-Sharjah.

“I thank God for all the achievements I had with Raja, and I thank the fans for always supporting me, now it’s my time to leave,” Rahimi confirmed the move in an interview with Moroccan television Arryadia.

Al Ain are reported to have paid $3 million for Rahimi services with the Moroccan side having previously asked for $5 million from any club that wanted to sign their star.

Soufiane scored 44 goals and registered 21 assists in 140 games across all competitions for the Moroccan top-flight outfit.
