Rangers Midfielder Ibenegbu Confident of Flooring AS Kara

Nigeria’s Rangers International midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu is optimistic that Flying Antelopes will get a good result against Togo’s AS Kara in their CAF Confederation Cup play-off first leg clash slated for Sunday 23 October, at Stade de Kegue in Lome.

Ibenegbu says the team will not be intimidated by the fact the Togolese champions will be parading seven players who were part of the Sparrow Hawks squad that eliminated Super Eagles B team from the 2020 African Nations Championship.

“We respect our opponents in this round of the competition, but we don’t fear them. “We’ve heard so much about the team that they have about seven players in the home-based national team,” Ibenegbu told reporters

“On our part, we are an equally great side with determination to get as far as the final of the competition with an eye on winning the trophy for the country.”

Rangers will have to go past Kara to make it to the group stages of the competition and former Heartland playmaker is well aware of what is needed to make it to the next round.

“We are well motivated for this encounter as the management led by Prince Davidson Owumi has been there for us, ensuring that all that is needed by the players was made available,” he added

En route to this fixture, Rangers eliminated AS Pelican of Gabon on a 4-3 aggregate while AS Kara were knocked out of CAF Champions League by Congolese side AS Vita.

Winners of the two-legged tie will advance to the group stages of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
