Raja Casablanca End 64-Match Unbeaten Home Record Of Nkana

Moroccan club Raja Casablanca ended the 64-match unbeaten home record in African competitions of Zambian team Nkana with a 2-0 CAF Confederation Cup victory Wednesday.

Soufiane Rahimi put 2018 Confederation Cup champions ahead from the penalty spot in the 47th minute, before Noah Sadaoui extended his side lead with three minutes of regular time remaining to earn the Casablanca outfit a famous win in Zambian city Ndola.

The Kitwe-based side had never lost at home in CAF club competitions, a run stretching all the way to 1983.

The Red Devils won 45 matches, drew 19, scored 137 goals and conceded 38 in Champions League, Confederation Cup and Super Cup matches before facing Raja.

Success took Raja to a maximum six points from two matches in Group D same as Pyramids while Namungo and Nkana have zero point.

Pyramids beat Namungo 2-0 in a match played on Wednesday afternoon at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Ramadan Sobhy scored from the spot after Mohamed Farouk was tackled inside the 18-yard box by a Namungo defender.

In Cameroon, defending champions RS Berkane lost for the first time in this season’s Confederation Cup when they went 2-0 at the hands of Cameroonian outfit Coton Sport.

Souaibou Marou and Sibiri Sanou had the goals for the home side in the 54th and 72nd minutes to send the Garoua-based outfit to second place in Group B clash.

In Group B, Napsa Stars gave away a healthy 2 – 0 lead to draw 2 – 2 at home against visiting Algerian side JS Kabylie.

Jimmy Mukeya opened the scoring for the home side in the 12th minute before Doisy Soko added the second in the 63rd minute when he took advantage of some miscommunication in the Napsa defense for a bright finish.

Pressure from the visitors then saw Bornwell Silengo scored in his own net as he tried to keep out a Rida Bensayah header off an Abdelmoumen Chikhi cross.

Kabylie completed the comeback at the stroke of fulltime as Luka Ng’uni and Aaron Kabwe clashed as they went to defend and aerial ball with Nezla benefitting, picking the loose ball for the equalizer.
