Pyramids Plotting Al Ahly Upstage by Signing Ghana Goal Assassin John Atwi

Pyramids have plotted to end Al Ahly’s dominance in the Egyptian Premier League following the capture of red-hot Ghana-born scorer John Duku Antwi.

An Al Ahly cast-off, John was the subject of an intense bidding war with a couple of moneybags seeking to lure him.

A one-time top foreign goal-getter in the Egyptian top-flight, Zamalek was one of the many clubs on his trail but the deal hit the buffers after The Knights failed to meet his astronomical wage demands.

Pyramids ended up swaying him, coughing up reportedly in excess of a million euros to activate his release clause from Misr Lel Makasa, his club of the last three terms whom he also fetched eleven goals for the previous campaign.

A consensus was reached between the player’s representatives on a long term contract and his prospective buyers after four days of negotiations.

The acquisition of the 26-year-old put to rest protracted speculation over where his future lies.

John is the third new signing after Mahmoud Hamdah and Mohammed Atwa from Saudi premier league side Al-Raed in an overhaul Pyramids hope could get them matching Al Ahly and eventually conquering the title.

Antwi is tipped to partner with Burkinabe 12-goal forward who was Pyramids’ top scorer in a lethal tango that could pose challenges to other teams.
