Palestinians in Tunisia’s League Granted Local Player Status

All Palestinian footballers on the verge of transferring to the Tunisian Premier League have been granted local player status.

All Palestinian footballers on the verge of transferring to the Tunisian Premier League have been granted local player status.

This also covers Palestine players already in the books of the North African country’s domestic clubs.

The development is part of reform efforts by the Tunisian Football Association.

The move means the aforementioned foreign players will no longer go through the red-tape of getting a work permit to play in Tunisia like other nationalities not listed by the rule.

The reform initially faced pockets of opposition when first introduced to Tunisian delegates offering to grant local player tagging to all North Africans in the Tunisian game before it was accepted.

The document was also submitted to the FAs in Morocco, Egypt and Algeria for consideration but wasn’t endorsed.
