Oregon 2022: Ferdinand Omanyala Finally Gets US Visa

After a long wait Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala has received his United States of America visa for the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Omanyala, who will be representing the East African nation in 100m sprint on Friday, had not received the travel document by Wednesday afternoon hence he was doubtful to compete at the global event.

The 27-year-old African champion is now set to leave Nairobi to Dubai at 20h00GMT before taking a connection flight and reach Oregon two hours before the race.

“I have been called to go and pick up the passport, that my visa is ready. This is a huge relief,” said Omanyala.

Omanyala is the third fastest man this season having clocked behind Americans Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell.

He was given a bye to the heats by virtue of his ranking this season and will start in semi-finals are due on the same day at 6.50pm, which will be Saturday 4.50am Kenyan time.
