Onyango: Uganda Not Scared of Anyone

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango says his side is not afraid of Senegal ahead of Friday’s African Cup of Nations round of 16 clash between the two teams.

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango says his side is not afraid of Senegal ahead of Friday’s African Cup of Nations round of 16 clash between the two teams.

Cranes set up a clash against Senegal after they finished second in group A and C respectively. Uganda camp recently hit the headlines after players downed their tools demanding more bonuses after qualifying for the round of 16.

The issue between the player and the federation saw the players boycott training for two days. The issue has since been resolved and the Sebastien Desabre coached side trained on Wednesday and Thursday.

Uganda head into the game as underdogs but Onyango insists that his side is not scared of the Sadio Mane led Lions of Teranga. The Mamelodi Sundowns keeper said his side will enjoy the match against Senegal.

“Uganda Cranes is not afraid of anyone. We shall enjoy the moment and take on Senegal.  The most important thing is the game ahead of us. What happened before, we call it past. We have re-opened the engine once again,” he said.

The first match of the round of 16 will be between Morrocco and Benin before paving way for the duel between the two sides.
