Odion Ighalo: Manchester United Extend Striker’s Loan Deal

English Premier League side Manchester United has extended loan deal of Shanghai Shenhua striker until January 2021.

English Premier League side Manchester United has extended the loan deal of Shanghai Shenhua striker until January 2021.

The 30-year-old forward has scored four goals in eight appearances for the Reds since joining the club in February.

He will now be available to finish the campaign when it restarts on June 17 though sources have told Ducor Sports that Manchester United have no option or obligation to buy.

“Manchester United have reached agreement with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to extend the loan deal for Odion Ighalo,” United said in a statement on Monday.

“He will now remain with the Reds until January 31, 2021, enabling him to build on an impressive start to life with the club he supported as a boy.”

The Red Devils are set to pay Shanghai an additional loan fee of around €4 million to secure his services for another eight months.

Manchester United are fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with nine games to play.

The Nigeria international, Ighalo, previously had a stint in Premier League where he made 55 Premier League appearances for Watford between August 2015 and January 2017, scoring 16 goals and adding four assists.

He was named the competition’s Player of the Month for December 2015.
