Nigeria’s Queen of the Tracks Loses Wig in Long Jump Much to the Internet’s Amusement

There was was more to Blessing Okagbare’s long jump at the Oslo Diamond League than the normal distance meets the eye. If you think you have seen it all in sports, you haven’t seen a long jump go wig in the sport of track and field.

The Nigerian who was announced among the five legendary athletes that will be inducted into the University of Texas El Paso Athletics Hall of Fame for 2017, jumped a decent 6.21 meters, her wig, not so much.

The hair piece made its own jump, falling off as the Nigerian approached her landing. Hair and sand, not much of a friendly mix but Okagbare widely seen as Nigeria’s Queen of the tracks, picked herself up, brushed it off, and calmly put it back on.

She may have maintained her cool like ‘no big deal,’ but the Internet as candidly hilarious as it is, turned the heat up in a series of funny reactions.

Nevertheless, the 28-year-old joined in on the humour and laughed it off on her Instagram account, saying, [perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]”It is what it is.”[/perfectpullquote]
