Shocking scenes greeted the Senegalese wrestling world yesterday as Eumeu Sene got deposed as king of the arena in the most gruesome of fashion.

In preparations that took six months, it took just six minutes to end the bout.

Modou Lo despite being the winner in the duo’s previous tussle, was the underdog and had pressure piling on him after he left the same arena turned inside out and humiliated by Balla Gaye January this year.

Owing to magnanimity of the lost, most of his followers doubted he will ever come back from it with Eumeu Sene even making a reference mocking of Lo’s battering to Balla Gaye in their final face to face.

Bitterness etched on his face in reaction but he kept mute on that occasion responding, “We will see on Sunday.”

And true to his word, the public saw when he landed two heavy blows on a charging Eumeu Sene who went crashing face down in the sands amid an uproar.

Criticised for attacking instead of playing wait-and-see, Eumeu fainted on the spot before waking up stupefied asking “did I fall?”

Yesterday night’s bout was the most brutal since the collapse of Zoss against Siteu last December.

It’s unclear who Modou now takes on as the new king of the arena with talk of either Tapha Tine or Bombardier rife.
