Mubarak Aigba Threatens to Report Sofapaka to FIFA Over Salary Arrears

Togolese goalkeeper Abdoul-Moubarak Aïgba has threatened to drag Sofapaka to Fifa’s Dispute Resolution Chamber over a pay-dispute.

The 23-year-old claims not once during his nine-month stint with the 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions did the club did not pay him his monthly salary.

As reported by MozartSport, Aigba is demanding USD 1300 in accrued salaries and bonuses accumulated within four months.

“Before I returned to Togo, I had not been paid for four months and life in Kenya was really tough. I tried my best to request the club to pay me but they didn’t. I also sought my release letter without success. My hope is now on FIFA whom I intend my present my case through my lawyers,” the goalkeeper claimed.

The Togolese import joined Sofapaka in February of 2021 and was able to nail a starting berth under the then Coach Ken Odhiambo.

He had been spotted by the Batoto Ba Mungu during the 2020 Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon and signed a two-year contract with the club.

Aigba threat of taking Sofapaka to FIFA comes at a time when the club hierarchy assured fans that they will clear with former players by next week and have the transfer ban imposed by FIFA lifted.

Two of Sofapaka former players Justin Mico and Moussa Omar had reported the club to FIFA for their delay in payment of salaries.
