Liberia Unveil Squad for Cape Verde Double-Header

Liberia national team head coach Peter Butler has named his 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup against Cape Verde in October.

The Lone Stars are set to resume their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign during this month’s international break with a highly-anticipated double-header against Group C rivals Cape Verde.

Butler’ side currently sit second on the log standings after recording a 1-0 win over Ceentral African Republic in second match, which came after a 2-0 loss to table leaders Nigeria.

Ahead of next month’s encounters, the Englishman has announced a 20-man squad made of local-based players, including inform LPRC Oilers attacker Terry Sackor (LPRC Oilers) and LISCR midfielder Sam Jackson.

Butler has now invited sixteen foreign-based players led by Sweden-based Justin Paul Salmon and Jeremy Saygbe of Spanish side RB Linense.

Liberia and the Blue Sharks first meet on Thursday,7 October 2021 at Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana.

The two nations will then take their battle to Praia for the second leg which will be played three days later – Sunday, 10 October 2021-at Stadium Aderito Sena in Mindelo which kicks off at 16h00.
