Mpile Disappointed by CHAN Semi-final Exit

Cameroon head coach Ndtoungou Mpile Martin admitted that he was disappointed not advance to the African Nations Championship after the Indomitable Lions faithful turned in numbers to support the team against Morocco.

Cameroon head coach Ndtoungou Mpile Martin admitted that he was disappointed not advance to the African Nations Championship after the Indomitable Lions faithful turned in numbers to support the team against Morocco.

The 4-0 thrashing at quarter-packed Limbe Omnisport Stadium on Wednesday night saw the defending champions progress to the final without a strong opposition.

Mpile’s charges were hoping to give the fans who turned up at the stadium a day to remember, but were met by a resilient and well-organised defensive unit that they just could not break down.

Speaking after the game, Mpile admitted that getting knocked out at this stage in front of his home fans was ‘a bitter pill to swallow’.

“We played against a strong and well-coordinated team of Morocco that made things hard for my team,” said Mpile after the encounter.

“It is sad we fell out at the semi-final but am happy the boys worked hard to get this far Cameroon had never reached in the CHAN tournament.”

The defeat means Cameroon will have to wait another two years to get a shot at the African Nations Championship trophy after reaching the semis for the first time in their history.
