Missing Former Guinea-Bissau International Serifo Cassama Found

Former Guinea-Bissau international  Serifo Cassama, who has been said to have disappeared without trace has been found alive.

Cassama, a former Leca player, has since been admitted to Santo Antonio Hospital in Porto ans is expected to be released soon to reunite with family.

The Cassama family spokesperson had posted on social media reporting his disappearance. The ex-Djurtus star’s belongings were found on Wednesday near a supermarket in Leça da Palmeira.

According to the spokesperson, all Cassama’s bags and computer were athlete were found, except for the passport.

“To family and friends, I inform you that we have found Serifo Cassamá. At the moment, he is admitted to the emergency department of Hospital Santo António”, he wrote.

Cassama had told his son, with whom he lived in Portugal, that he wanted to travel to England for personal business.

The 55-year-old started his football career in Bissau with local giants Sports Bissau Benfica before moving to Portugal.

He played for Leça from 1987/88 to 2003/04, having been part of the club’s squad when the team played in the top flight of Portuguese football.
