Metz Signs Gambian U-20 Captain

Gambian U-20 skipper Ablie Jallow, put pen-to-paper to sign with French Ligue 1’s Metz from Senegalese Champions, Generation Foot. The 18-year-old inked a five-year deal to keep him until 2022.

Jallow is expected to join the Stade Saint-Symphorien outfit for the club’s pre-season but will continue his development with the reserves before he’s summoned for first-team action.

He guided Generation Foot, a feeder club to Metz, to a Leicester-like championship win – securing the title within the club’s first promotional season to the top league.

The 18-year-old’s move to the Northeast of France came as no coincidence after he first impressed coaches during a rare pre-season tour with Generation Foot in France, organized by Metz chairman Bernard Serin.

It was a fulfillment of a promise made to Foot when the side won the FA Cup in 2016.

It’s unclear whether local Gambian club Real de Banjul is due in part, owed a transfer fee for developing the player.
