Mauritania, Cameroon To Clash As Ghana Land Morocco In AFCON U-20 Draw

Hosts Mauritania will face Cameroon, Uganda and Mozambique in Group A at the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Hosts Mauritania will face Cameroon, Uganda and Mozambique in Group A at the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Two former titleholders Ghana and Morocco are in Group C with The Gambia and Tanzania.

The tournament will take place from 14 February 2021 to 4 March 2021, meaning most Europe-based players will miss the tournament.

It is the biggest AFCON U-20 yet, with 12 teams, and first biennial international youth football tournament to be held in Mauritania.

The draw was conducted by CAF Head of Competitions, Khaled Nasser and assisted by Cameroon legend Emmanuel Maboang at the Hilton Hotel, in Yaoundé́, Cameroon on Monday.

Burkina Faso will play Tunisia, Namibia and Central African Republic in Group B of the tournament which will be played in the two cities of Nouakchott and Nouadhibou.

The first game of the tournament will be Mauritania against Cameroon on 14 February in Nouakchott.

The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as CAF representatives.
