The woes at former African club champions Tunisia’s Club Africain have deepened amid mass resignations, Ducor Sport understands.

From looming sanctions, warnings and point deductions from FIFA to players staging numerous sit-downs, Club Africain has faced it all this challenging season.

Team fans had to intervene to prevent what could have caused their favourite outfit to be hit with relegation by contributing funds to offset debts.

The North African country’s football governing body last week needed to step in to quell player unrest, summoning senior members of the team for talks at their headquarters.

However, in the wake of these, heat is still bubbling from within the club’s board after a couple of senior board members opted to resign.

Tarek Asmi and Taoufik Ben Samir, key figures of the club’s technical bench and board, handed in resignation letters on Tuesday evening.

The development comes as a huge blow for an outfit occupying the fourth position in the table standings and were once tipped contenders to end African champions Esperance’s league dominance.

There is also talk that Majdi Khelifim, the club director, has reportedly resigned though how true that is remains to be seen.
