Bullets Begin Pre-Season Training Ahead Of New Season

Malawi Super League giants Nyasa Big Bullets have started pre-season training as they get ready for the new season.

Malawi Super League giants Nyasa Big Bullets have started pre-season training as they get ready for the new season.

The team went for a six-week break but are back as they look to keep up their shape ahead of the new season that is set to kick-off on March 24th.

The short training season was taken by assistant coach Peter Mponda who revealed he is happy with players’ turn out.

“The players are very excited that they are back to training,” Mponda told Bullets website.

“We are also very happy that the boys were following [head] coach Kalisto Pasuwa’s programs during the break and it looks like most of them paid attention. You could tell through their body language when we were doing the aerobics [that they’re ready],” he added.

The 2019 Malawi Super League champions will first play a curtain-raiser that is locally known as FAM Charity Shield.

They are also scheduled to participate in local competitions including the FDH Bank Cup, FISD Challenge Cup and the Airtel Top 8, after serving a one-year suspension imposed by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

The Blantyre giants will also be looking forward to taking part in the continental CAF Champions League, a competition they were knocked out in the preliminary round in the last two years.

Last year’s Super League crown was 14th for Bullets, extending their run behind Silver Strikers (eight league titles) and Be Forward Wanderers (six championships).
